Using iTunes:

NOTE: You can use iTunes on a computer with access to the Internet in order to sync the contacts on your iPhone with your Google account. You can then sync the account data with the Galaxy A5.

  1. Open iTunes on the computer
  2. Connect the iPhone to the PC via USB
  3. Once connected, click the iPhone in iTunes to access the summary page
  4. Go to the “Info” tab and turn on “Sync Contacts With”
  5. Choose “Google Contacts” from the drop-down menu
  6. Sign in with your Google account, or if available, click “Configure” and select an existing account
  7. Click “Apply” to begin the sync
  8. Once the sync is done, switch to the Galaxy A5, register the same Google account and set it to sync contacts with your device

Using iCloud:

NOTE: In case you have used the iCloud backup service on your iPhone before finding this guide then the contacts on your iPhone should already be backed up on your iCloud account. By accessing your account on a computer connected t on the Internet, you can export the contacts for Android use.

  1. Open the Internet browser on the PC
  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and sign in with your iCloud account
  3. Click “Contacts” and select the contact you want to share
  4. Click “Settings” > “Export vCard”
  5. After the vCard is downloaded on the computer, import it to “Google Contacts” or:
  6. Alternatively skip the step above and instead, connect the Galaxy A5 to your computer via USB and transfer the vCard file to the phone storage. Then, import the file using the “Contacts” application

Using My Contacts Backup:

NOTE: While the two methods above require access to a computer connected to the Internet, alternatively you can use third party apps to transfer your contacts without requiring a PC. My Contacts Backup is an iOS app that can back up and transfer contacts via email.

  1. Open the App Store and install “My Contacts Backup” on the iPhone
  2. Launch the app and tap “Backup”
  3. After the backup file is created, tap “Email”
  4. Attach the vCard to the email, and send it to your own email address
  5. Switch to the Galaxy A5, open the email, download the vCard file, and import it using the “Contacts” application

Using “Send Anywhere”:

NOTE: Send Anywhere is another third party app for iOS and Android, which can be used to transfer contacts and other types of files without needing a computer.
  1. Visit the App Store and install “Send Anywhere” on the iPhone
  2. Go to the Google Play Store and install the same app on the Galaxy A5
  3. Launch the app on both handsets
  4. Tap “Send” on the iPhone, and tap “Contacts”
  5. Select the desired contacts and tap “Send”
  6. Choose a transfer method. You can tap “Generate QR Code” on the iPhone and scan the code with the A5’s camera, or tap “Receive” on the Samsung device and enter the transfer code from the iPhone
