Turn On Power Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Tap “Power” under “System”
  4. Tap “Power saving mode” and enable the feature
  5. Customize how Power saving mode works by enabling or disabling the available options

Turn On Ultra Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “System” and tap “Power saving”
  4. Tap “Ultra Power saving mode” and enable the feature
  5. You can further customize how the mode works by tapping “+” to add applications that will run in Ultra Power saving mode

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Display” > “Brightness”
  3. If necessary, disable “Automatic brightness”
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen and tap “OK”
  5. Tap “Screen timeout” in the “Display” menu
  6. Select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use. To do this:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Under “Network Connections”, tap “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”
  3. Tap the “Hotspot” switch to “OFF”
  4. Go back to the home screen and drag the “Notification” bar down
  5. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth”, and “Location” tiles to disable these features

Use 2G instead of 4G:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “More networks” under “Network Connections”
  4. Tap “Mobile Networks”
  5. Select “Network mode” and tap “GSM only”

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some of your third party applications can have an effect on your phone’s battery performance even when you don’t use them – assuming that the apps perform regular processes in the background. As such, by disabling / removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Application manager” under “Apps”
  3. Go to “Downloaded”
  4. Select an app and tap “Disable”
  5. To remove the app completely, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Disable Background Data:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Tap “Data usage”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Restrict background data”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “User and Backup” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Go to the “Accounts” tab and select an account
  4. Adjust the available sync settings for the specific account
  5. For additional sync options, tap your user name or email address at the top of the screen

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life, so you should keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “System” and tap “About device”
  3. Tap “Software updates” and if available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
