Restore Contacts from an Account:
- If necessary, sign in with the Samsung or Google account you used for the initial backup
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Tap Accounts under User and Backup
- Select Samsung or Google, depending on the type of account used
- Tap your user name or email address at the top
- Make sure "Contacts is selected, then tap Menu > Sync now
Restore Contacts from SD Card:
- Make sure the SD card containing the backup is installed on the phone
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Under Device, tap Applications
- Tap Contacts > Import / Export contacts
- Tap Import > SD card
- Select to restore (import) a single, or multiple vCard files
- Choose to restore the contacts on your Google account or Device storage
Restore Media Files
From the SD Card:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch My Files
- Tap SD card under Local storage
- Tap More > Edit
- Select the check boxes next to the media files you want to restore
- Tap More > Move > Device storage
- Navigate to the desired target folder, or tap Create Folder
- Tap Move here when ready
From a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy J1 to your PC via USB
- On the home screen, drag the Status bar down and make sure Media device (MTP) is enabled
- Open the File Explorer on the PC and locate the media files backed up on your HDD
- Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the Media folder
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB
From a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy J1 to your Mac via USB
- From the notification area, make sure Media device (MTP) is turned on
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Inside Kies, click the Back up / restore tab, and access Restore
- Place a check mark next to Music, Photo, and other media file types you want to restore (or tap Select all files)
- Click Restore and follow the on-screen steps
- After the restore is done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and into the Trash can
- Its now safe to disconnect the device from the USB cord
