Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Enable Power saving mode
- You can tap Start power saving and select a battery percentage for the Saving Mode to start automatically
Disable Connectivity and Use 2G:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS) you can improve battery life in the long run. In case of emergency, you can also conserve battery life by switching to 2G.
- Access the Settings menu
- Go to Connections
- Tap to disable the desired connectivity options
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and set it to OFF
- To use 2G networks, tap More connection settings under Connections
- Next, tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only
Lower the Screen Timeout Duration and Brightness:
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Disable Automatic brightness if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease the displays brightness level
- Go back to Display and tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account type and tap the desired account
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes, thus they can affect battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Access the Downloaded tab
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Turn Off Background Data:
- Open the Settings menu
- Swipe to Connections
- Tap Data usage > More
- Tap Restrict background data > OK
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Certain software updates can include improvements to battery life, thus its recommended to keep your phones firmware up to date. To check for new updates:
- Access Settings
- Scroll down to System
- Tap About device
- Follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update(s) (if available)
