Restore Contacts from Storage / SD:
- Assuming your contacts are backed up on an SD card, make sure its inserted in the phone
- Open the apps drawer and go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Contacts > Import / Export contacts
- Tap Import and select Storage or SD card
- Select to import a single or multiple vCard files
- If necessary, select the desired vCard file
- Choose to restore contacts on Device storage or your Google account
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- If necessary, go to Settings and sign in with the Google account you used for the backup. If you are already signed in:
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Tap Accounts under User and Backup
- Select Google
- Tap your email address or user name at the top of the screen
- Make sure Contacts is enabled, then tap Menu > Sync now
Restore Media Files
From an SD Card:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch My Files
- Tap SD card under Local storage
- Tap More > Edit
- Check the boxes associated with the media files you wish to restore
- Tap More > Move
- Select Device storage
- Navigate to the folder or tap Create folder
- Tap Move here
From a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy A7 to your computer using the USB cable
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down and enable Media device (MTP)
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the computer
- Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the Media folder
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage from the system tray and disconnect the phone from the USB cord
From a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy A7 to your Mac via USB
- On the phone, make sure Media device (MTP) is selected in the notification area
- On the Mac, launch Kies
- Inside Kies, click the Back up / restore tab
- Go to the Restore tab and check the boxes associated with Music, Photos, and other types of media files you want to restore (alternatively you can click Select all)
- Click Restore and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
- After the restore is complete, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop into the Trash can to eject the storage
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB
