Enable Power Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “System”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Power saving mode” and set the switch to “ON”
  5. Optionally, select a battery percentage. Once reached, the mode will enable automatically

Enable Ultra Power Saving Mode:

  1. Open the “Apps” drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “System”
  4. Tap “Battery” and turn on “Ultra power saving mode”
  5. At the prompt, tap “Agree”
  6. Optionally, tap “+” to add additional applications to work in Ultra Power Saving Mode

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  3. Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”
  4. If necessary, turn off “Automatic brightness”
  5. Drag the slider to the left to decrease the screen’s luminosity level

Disable Connectivity Features When Unused:

NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS when these features are not un use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Under “Connections” tap ”Tethering & Mobile hotspot”
  3. Tap the switch to turn off Hotspot
  4. Return to the home screen and drag the “Status” bar down
  5. From the notification area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” tiles to turn off these features

Switch to 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: In case you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or a battery bank and you need to conserve battery life, you can temporarily switch to 2G. To do this:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Connections”, tap “More connection settings”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Network mode”
  4. Select “GSM only”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
  2. Tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some of your third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even when not in use, due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, by removing or disabling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  3. Tap “Application manager” and swipe to “Downloaded”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

NOTE: The Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps are known to affect battery life to a great extent. Thus, optionally you can choose to uninstall these apps and use Facebook Lite instead.

Turn Off Background Data:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. Under “Connections”, tap “Data usage”
  3. Tap “More” > “Restrict background data”
  4. Tap “OK” to confirm

Keep Your Phone Up to Date:

NOTE: Certain software updates can improve battery life, so it’s recommended to keep your phone updated at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “About device” under “System”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. If necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply any available updates
