Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache and data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will result in the deletion of all personal information stored within the app, such as credit card and login information, profiles, high scores, saved games etc. As such, in order to avoid losing personal data, clear only the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Go to Downloaded or All and select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt solve the problems, you can tap Clear data > OK
Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party application that causes problems on your device and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.
- Turn off the device
- Next, press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release the Power button and quickly press and hold Volume down instead
- Wait for the phone to reboot, and once done, it should display a Safe Mode label in the lower- left corner of the screen (release the Volume key once the phone restarts)
- To start removing the app, go to Settings
- Next, scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager and swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall twice to confirm
- To exit safe mode, press and hold Power and tap Restart
Clear Phone Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone doesnt work as intended, crashes, freezes etc. you can try fixing these problems by clearing the phones cache partition. Doing so can have similar results as a factory reset, without losing any of your personal data. To clear the cache partition:
- First, turn off the phone
- Next, press and hold Power, Home and Volume Up at the same time
- After the phone turns on and shows the Android logo, release the buttons
- Wait for the phone to go in Recovery
- From the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- After the cache is wiped, Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power to restart your device
NOTE: If wiping the cache didnt help, you can visit this thread to learn how you can master reset the device instead.
