Transfer Audio Files from a Windows Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and computer
- On the home screen, drag the Status bar down
- Tap Connected as a media device and enable Media device (MTP)
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired audio files on your PC storage
- Copy the files and paste them on the phone storage, preferably in the Ringtones / Notification folder(s)
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Transfer Audio Files from a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and install the app on the Mac
- Once Kies is installed, connect the Galaxy S7 Edge to your Mac via USB
- Drag the Status bar down and turn on Media device (MTP)
- Open Kies on the Mac and click the Folder icon associated with Internal memory or External memory
- Launch the file explorer on the Mac and locate the desired audio files
- Drag the files and drop them in Kies
- Once the transfer is done, eject the Galaxy S7 Edges storage by dragging its virtual drive from the desktop into the trash can and disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Add Audio Files to the Ringtone List:
- On the home screen, tap Apps
- Go to Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Sounds and notifications
- Under Sound, tap Ringtones and sounds
- Tap Ringtone > Add ringtone
- Select Sound picker and choose to use the option Always or Just once
- Select the audio files you want to use for ringtones and tap Done
Change the General Ringtone:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Under Device, tap Sounds & notifications
- Tap Ringtones & sounds under Sound
- Tap Ringtone
- Select the desired ringtone
- Tap Back to save
Change a Contacts Ringtone:
- Launch Contacts
- Select the desired contact
- Tap Edit > Ringtone
- Select the desired ringtone and tap OK
- Tap Save
Change the Notification Sound:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Under Device, tap Sounds & Notifications
- Go to Ringtones and sounds
- Select a notification type, and choose a notification sound
- Tap Back to save the changes

Actually you can add. Just connect the s7 edge to a computer, select device storage, look for notification folder and add there,
Or
Download the files through your s7, go to the Samsung app folder, select my files app. . Locate the folder where you download the new sounds. Select all of the sounds you want
Select move or copy option
Select device storage
Select notification folder
Paste/move your sound files there.
Your done. Now you can select them. No rooting is needed
So far I've used MP3 and M4A files with no issues
