Back Up Application Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  4. To back up Wi-Fi passwords, account data, and settings to your Google account, enable “Back up my data”
  5. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your account

Back Up Contacts to Storage:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Applications” under “Device”
  3. Tap “Contacts” > “Import / Export contacts”
  4. Choose “Export”
  5. Select to export contacts on “SD card” or “Storage”
  6. Tap “OK” to confirm

Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” and select “Google”
  3. Select the desired Google account
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “More” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “My Files”
  3. Tap “Device storage” under “Local storage”
  4. Tap “More” > “Edit”
  5. Locate and select the desired media files
  6. Tap “More” > “Copy” and select “SD card”
  7. Tap “Create folder” or alternatively, navigate to and select the desired destination folder
  8. Tap “Paste here”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate and copy the media files on your phone
  5. Paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps below if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit Kies Support
  3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” to download and install Kies on the Mac
  4. Connect the Samsung phone to the Mac via USB
  5. Enable “Media Device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac and access the “Back up / Restore” tab
  7. Click the “Backup” tab
  8. Tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to back up
  9. Click “Backup” to confirm
  10. Once the backup is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
  11. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
