Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Backup & reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and account data to your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data to be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your account
Back Up Contacts to Storage:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Contacts
- Tap Import / Export contacts
- Tap Export and select to export contacts on Storage or SD card
- Press OK to confirm
Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts
- Select Google and select the desired Google account
- Ensure Contacts is checked
- Tap More > Sync Now
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open My Files
- Scroll to Local storage and tap Device storage
- Tap More > Edit
- Locate and select the desired media files
- Tap More > Copy
- Select SD Card
- Tap Create folder or navigate to and select the desired destination folder
- Tap Paste here to confirm
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
- Turn Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate and copy the media files on the phone
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: You can skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Establish a USB connection between the Samsung phone and Mac
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Access Back up / Restore and go to the Backup tab
- Tick the boxes associated with Photos, Music and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to confirm
- After the backup is done, drag the phones virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the Trash can to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
