Back Up App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Cloud and accounts”
  3. Tap “Backup & restore”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up account data, settings, Wi-Fi passwords etc. to your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow data to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Tap “Cloud and accounts” > “Accounts”
  4. Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Back Up Contacts to the SD Card:

  1. Open “Contacts” and tap “Menu”
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. If necessary, tap “Contacts to display” > “All contacts”
  4. Tap “Import / Export contacts” > “Export to SD card”
  5. Press “OK” to confirm

Back Up Media Files on Phone Storage:

  1. From the “Samsung” folder, open “My Files”
  2. Go to “Internal storage”
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Share”
  4. Select the contact you want to back up
  5. When ready, tap “Share” again and select the desired backup location

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the computer and Galaxy S8+
  2. Enable “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media files on the phone storage
  4. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
  5. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below:

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Head down to Kies Support
  3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” and install Kies on the computer
  4. Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
  5. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  6. On the Mac, launch Kies and go to the “Back up / Restore” tab
  7. Access the “Backup” tab
  8. Tick the check boxes next to “Photos”, “Music” and other media file types you want to back up
  9. Click “Backup” to begin the process
  10. Once the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “trash can”
  11. You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
