Back Up App Data:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Cloud and accounts
- Tap Backup & restore
- Enable Back up my data to back up account data, settings, Wi-Fi passwords etc. to your Google account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow data to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps
Back Up Contacts:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Cloud and accounts > Accounts
- Select the account you want to use for contact syncing
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Back Up Contacts to the SD Card:
- Open Contacts and tap Menu
- Launch Settings
- If necessary, tap Contacts to display > All contacts
- Tap Import / Export contacts > Export to SD card
- Press OK to confirm
Back Up Media Files on Phone Storage:
- From the Samsung folder, open My Files
- Go to Internal storage
- Tap Menu > Share
- Select the contact you want to back up
- When ready, tap Share again and select the desired backup location
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the computer and Galaxy S8+
- Enable File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media files on the phone storage
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
- After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below:
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac and install Kies on the computer
- Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- On the Mac, launch Kies and go to the Back up / Restore tab
- Access the Backup tab
- Tick the check boxes next to Photos, Music and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to begin the process
- Once the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the trash can
- You can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
