Enable Power Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Tap Power saving mode and enable the option
- Select a battery percentage at which the mode enables automatically
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when unused including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap Tethering & Mobile hotspot and set the switch OFF
- Return to the home screen and swipe the Status bar down using two fingers
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location (GPS) quick toggles to turn the features OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Go to Connections
- Tap More connection settings
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM Only
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
- Optionally from the Display menu, you can turn Automatic brightness On or Off
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease brightness
Disable Background Data:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap Data usage > More
- Tap Restrict background data > OK to confirm
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus, by removing or disabling unused third party apps form the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Under Device, tap Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Swipe to Download
- Select the desired app and tap Force stop / Disable to turn the app OFF
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Setting:
NOTE: By changing your accounts/apps sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select the desired account
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new OS updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to System
- Tap About device > System updates
- Assuming an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it. (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
