Soft Reset Using Hardware Buttons:
NOTE: A soft reset is designed to simulate battery removal. This can be useful is the phone is unresponsive. A Soft Reset will not affect your data.
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- Keep both buttons pressed upwards to 1 minute until the phone reboots
Hard Reset
NOTE: Hard resetting your device will delete all user data located on the phones internal memory, including media files, contacts, downloaded content, apps, ringtones etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values.
Hard Reset via Settings:
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Access Cloud and accounts
- Tap Backup and restore
- Optionally, enable or disable back up my data and Restore
- Go back to Settings and access General Management
- Tap Reset > Factory data reset
- Tap Reset device
- In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password / PIN / pattern to proceed
- Tap Continue > Delete all
Hard Reset via Hardware Keys:
NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, is unresponsive or otherwise it prevents you from resetting it via settings, alternatively you can try resetting the device using hardware buttons.
- First make sure the phone is powered off
- Then, press and hold Volume Up and Home at the same time
- Press and hold Power as well
- At the Android logo, release all buttons and wait upwards to a minute to gain access to Android Recovery
- Once in Recovery, press volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight wipe data / factory reset
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Press Volume down to highlight yes delete all user data and press Power
- After the phone resets, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
Reset Network Settings:
NOTE: By resetting network settings, all connection data including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi networks will be deleted. In addition, data restrictive settings, network selection mode, and background data sync will be set to default.
- Open the apps drawer and launch General Management
- Tap Reset > Reset network settings
- Tap Reset settings
- If your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN / password to proceed
- Tap Reset settings again to confirm
