Soft Reset Using Hardware Buttons:

NOTE: A soft reset is designed to simulate battery removal. This can be useful is the phone is unresponsive. A Soft Reset will not affect your data.

  1. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  2. Keep both buttons pressed upwards to 1 minute until the phone reboots

Hard Reset

NOTE: Hard resetting your device will delete all user data located on the phone’s internal memory, including media files, contacts, downloaded content, apps, ringtones etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values.

Hard Reset via Settings:

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Cloud and accounts”
  3. Tap “Backup and restore”
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “back up my data” and “Restore”
  5. Go back to “Settings” and access “General Management”
  6. Tap “Reset” > “Factory data reset”
  7. Tap “Reset device”
  8. In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password / PIN / pattern to proceed
  9. Tap “Continue” > “Delete all”

Hard Reset via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: In case your phone freezes, crashes, is unresponsive or otherwise it prevents you from resetting it via settings, alternatively you can try resetting the device using hardware buttons.

  1. First make sure the phone is powered off
  2. Then, press and hold “Volume Up” and “Home” at the same time
  3. Press and hold “Power” as well
  4. At the “Android” logo, release all buttons and wait upwards to a minute to gain access to Android Recovery
  5. Once in Recovery, press “volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe data / factory reset”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Press “Volume down” to highlight “yes – delete all user data” and press “Power”
  8. After the phone resets, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power”

Reset Network Settings:

NOTE: By resetting network settings, all connection data including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi networks will be deleted. In addition, data restrictive settings, network selection mode, and background data sync will be set to default.

  1. Open the apps drawer and launch “General Management”
  2. Tap “Reset” > “Reset network settings”
  3. Tap “Reset settings”
  4. If your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN / password to proceed
  5. Tap “Reset settings” again to confirm
