Back Up App Data:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap Cloud and accounts
- Tap Backup & restore
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and account data with your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow data to be automatically restored when signing in with the backup account or reinstall applications
Back Up Contacts:
- Launch Settings
- Tap Cloud and accounts > Accounts
- Tap the account you want to use for syncing the contacts
- Ensure contacts is enabled
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:
- Open Contacts
- Tap Menu > Settings
- If necessary, tap Contacts to display and select All contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts
- Tap Export to SD card > OK
Back Up Media Files on the Phone Storage:
- Open the Samsung folder
- Launch My Files
- Tap Internal storage
- Tap Menu > Share
- Select the content you want to back up
- Tap Share and select the location you want to use for the backup
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the desired media files on the phone storage
- Copy and paste the files to the desired backup location on the computer
- Once done, safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Back Up Media Files To a Mac Computer:
NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
- Click Download for Mac and install Kies on the computer
- Connect the Samsung phone to the Mac via USB and enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification shade
- Open Kies on the Mac
- Access the Back up / restore tab
- Go to the Backup tab
- Tick the boxes associated with Photos, Music and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to start the process
- Once the backup is done, eject the phone storage by dragging and dropping the virtual drive from the desktop and into the trash can and safely disconnect the phone from the USB
