Clear App Data/Cache:
NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, save files, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Go to Settings and scroll to Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Access All or Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as indented and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can attempt to fix these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset, without losing any personal data stored on the phone.
- Turn the device off
- Next, press and hold Power, Home and Volume Up at the same time
- At the Samsung screen ,release Power
- At the Android screen, release the other buttons as well
- Once in Recovery, press Volume down repeatedly until you highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Once done, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: if clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: In case one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you can uninstall the app from within Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot in Safe Mode:
- First turn the phone off
- Then press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and then immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Once the phone reboots, release all the buttons. NOTE: a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the screen
- To uninstall an app, go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Go to Application manager > Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall
- After removing the app, you can exit Safe Mode by simply rebooting the device as you would do normally
