Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to the same results as a factory reset without losing personal data located on the phone.

  1. Turn the phone OFF if necessary
  2. Next, press and hold “Volume UP” and “Home” at the same time, then press and hold “Power” as well
  3. When the Android screen appears, release the buttons and wait for access to the Recovery menu
  4. Then, navigate the menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Wipe data/factory reset”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  7. Press “Power”
  8. Then highlight “Yes” and press “Power” again to confirm
  9. Once the process completes, highlight “Reboot system now” and select the option

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

  1. First turn the phone OFF if necessary
  2. Then press and hold “Power” past the model name screen
  3. At the Samsung screen, release “Power” and quickly press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. After the phone finishes rebooting, release all the buttons and you should be able to see a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the screen
  5. To remove an app from the phone, first open “Settings”
  6. Go to “Apps” and select the desired app
  7. Tap “uninstall” and once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your device as you would do normally
