Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, user profiles, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Applications
- Ta Application manager
- Go to Downloaded or All
- Select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try to fix these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data from the phone storage.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Power Home and Volume Up simultaneously
- At the Samsung screen release Power
- Release Home and Volume Up at the Android screen
- Once in Android Recovery, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- After the process is done, ensure Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode to Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Wait for the phone to reboot and once done, release the key. A Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings and go to Device
- Tap Application
- Go to Application manager > Downloaded
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall
- Once done, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone
