Back Up App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Cloud and accounts” > “Backup & Restore”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically when you sign in with the backup account or reinstall apps

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Contacts” and access “Cloud and accounts”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Tap an account type and select the desired account to use for syncing contacts
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Contacts to SD or Internal Storage:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Applications” > “Contacts”
  3. Select to “Import/Export” contacts
  4. Tap “Export” and select “Storage” or “SD Card’
  5. Tap “OK”

Back Up Media Files to SD Storage:

  1. Open “My Files”
  2. Access “Local storage”
  3. Tap “Device storage”
  4. Tap “More” > “Edit”
  5. Select the media files you want to back up
  6. Tap “More” > “Copy” > “SD Card”
  7. Select the desired folder or tap “Create folder”
  8. Tap “Paste here”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
  6. Once completed, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below:

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Head down to https://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/app/kies
  3. Click “Download for Mac” and install the app on the computer
  4. Connect the phone to the Mac via USB
  5. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  6. Open Kies on the Mac
  7. In Kies go to “Backup” and tick the boxes associated with “Music” “Photos” and other media file types you want to back up
  8. Click “Backup” to start the sync
  9. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
  10. Safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
