Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, or doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including custom settings, login information, save files, user profiles etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Launch “Settings” and go to “Apps”
  2. Select the desired app
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  4. Tap “OK” to confirm
  5. If clearing the app cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory resetting, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone storage.

  1. Turn the phone Off if needed
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Volume Down” and “Home”/”Bixby” keys at the same time
  3. At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
  4. Press “Volume down” to navigate the menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Then highlight “Yes” and press “Power”
  7. Lastly, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. If necessary, turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. Release the button once the device reboots. Once done, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings”
  6. Then go to “Apps”
  7. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” two times to confirm
  8. Once done, reboot the phone normally to exit Safe Mode
