Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing the issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, such as save files, user profiles, custom settings, login information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check the Warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre thinking of factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing the problems by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Turn the phone OFF
- Press and hold Power Volume down and the Bixby or Home buttons simultaneously
- Wait for the Android screen and release the buttons
- Once in Android Recovery, press Volume down to navigate the recovery menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Next highlight Yes and press Power to confirm
- Once the process completes, ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the phones cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode. IN this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Ensure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Wait for the device to finish rebooting. Once done, release the volume key. You should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings and access Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap uninstall two times to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot the phone normally
