Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: if one of your apps freezes, crashes, or takes more storage than it should, you can try fixing it by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When clearing an apps data, you will delete all of your personal data stored within the app. You can avoid this by clearing ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data (Check the Warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing the device by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset but without the loss of personal data from the phone storage.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power Volume Down and the Home / Bixby buttons at the same time
- Release the buttons once at the Android screen and wait for access to Android Recovery
- Press Volume down repeatedly in the recovery menu until you highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Then highlight Yes and press Power
- Lastly, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: if clearing the cache didnt sole the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: if one of your third-party applications causes problems and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power while the phone is powered off
- Release Power at the Samsung logo and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Wait for the device to reboot and release the key. Once it finishes rebooting, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- Open Settings and go to Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall
- To exit Safe Mode, reboot the phone normally
