It should, but I would suggest using the software that Samsung recommends on their website.

I dotn believe so because the phone specifically states when i plug it in hte pictures and ringtones cannot be transfered. So official software wont support it. Just get datapilot, works like a charm.

Datapilot does not allow you to transfer ringtones or upload anything... all you can do is download your pics onto your PC... well thats all I am able to do!!

I've had no problems so far with Samsung's suggested software. Why'd they put it on the site if it doesn't work? It could be that your phone is locked.

Just Google 'Unlocking <your-phone-model>' and you should find sufficient info. Usually you need a data cable and some software. I would however recommend that you make full backups of everything on your phone, all your codes, everything, just to be safe.

Thanks to all on this forum for the great help. I knew my cable & USB driver worked because I bought and am using the Bell FutureDial Snapsync software (FD support sucks by the way). I was having some trouble with my A680 with BitPim etc and after re-unlocking my phone (as suggested here) and restarting BitPim a couple times, I was able to extract data.
Now, I have a new question. I'm using XNView to convert my pics to JPEG on the PC, works great. Does anyone know the cell phones format to convert JPEGs to? I wanna put some pics from the PC onto my phone. Y'know... spiffy lookin' pic IDs and such...
TIA,
Jay

oh and you might want to try datapilot rather than bitpim....it automatically converts them to jpegs.....therefore no need for XNView

To upload to the phone with bitpim, I just snap a bunch of meaningless pictures, their filenames will be 20050902xxxx etc. Use the filesystem browser, right-click each one and choose overwrite, then pic your JPG file to replace it with. Trouble is, I don't know what format to use so the phone recognizes it. I know the uploading works as I've rewritten with original A680 jpg pics and they're viewable on the phone.

Your phones should handle JPGs and GIFs just fine. Make sure you don't exceed the maximum size for the JPGs. That's where the software comes in handy. It will automatically make it the right size. I know that there's a special image editor that comes bundled with the Samsung software, but I can't remember the name.
