Hi..I recently got a Samsung SCH-A670. Love the look & feel. Problem is I noticed most of the time I only had 1-2 bars of power, although at times I have all 4. When I asked verizon about this, they said this phone is digital (shows you how up I am on things-didn't realize there was digital & tri mode!) Anyway...I can turn it back in and get tri mode but 2 problems. 1. I have come to LOVE this phone and 2. not very many great options w/tri modes. How concerned should I be that this phone will fail me? I live in Mass and do most of my driving literally between a small area of space. I do notice at times I have no signal, but am still able to make a call. Verizon rep told me to just be sure I update my phone regularly, which I do. He also said I could swap it in for the same, just in case it is simply this particular phone. I may do that, although I already have all my contacts and voice recordings on the old one...
What do people think? I usually don't travel too far out of my own space so I'm wondering if I'll be ok. The tri modes I have looked at are all bigger and I don't like as much. Thanks!

    Re: digital vs tri mode

Trimode would be Analog (800-900 MHz), Digital (800-900 MHz and 1800-1900 MHz), and PCS (1800-1900 MHz). If you are using the Verizon system in Mass, your are on the B side of CDMA which would be 800-900 MHZ, so your phone should work fine for you. Unless you are going to be traveling outside of the area and going on other carriers systems, you should not need a trimode phone. I would say that the area that you are in seems to have some coverage problem. If you are driving and having the coverage problem you might consider a car antenna to help.

    Re: digital vs tri mode

Thanks for reply. I actually continued having problems w/the digitals. Verizon let me swap yet again. I got a Motorola V276 that I love. It's tri mode. Works great everywhere. Have had about 8 months now and have lost maybe 1 -2 calls. Don't even know if those were MY fault! I'm quite happy w/the phone. I think I will stick to tri mode for the immediate future. Thanks again.
