I'm sorry if this has been answered somewhere on this forum already, but I have searched and searched and can't find the info I need to make my MP3s into ringers on my M500.

I converted them to ACC, then changed the format to .3gp, and sent them by cable to my memory card, and then to my phone, but they still don't show up in my ringers list. They are in a folder on my memory card, and I can move them to a folder on my phone, but can't figure out how to assign them as ringers.

I am on my parent's sprint plan, and they have disabled my phone from accessing the web at all, so if I can't figure this out, then I'm stuck with the ringers the phone came with, which suck.

    Please help me! THanks!!!

What program do you use to put the ringtones on your phone?

Re: How do I put ringers on my M500? Please???? :)

I used GoldWave to edit the songs to 30 secs, and then opened them in ITunes to convert them to ACC, then just changed the file name from .m4a to .3gp by right clicking and changing the name (as someone on this forum suggested for another phone). Then I just copied and pasted them from the folder where they were stored on my computer into the memory card folder (after connecting to the computer through the USB cord). So now they are on the memory card, and I can move them to my phone folders, which are DCIM, with a sub folder called 100SSMED, or to the BLUETOOTH folder, with a sub folder called ftp. Neither of these places allow the song to be set as a ringer.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

To use the song as a ringtone you need to put it in the memory of the phone itself using a program such as BitPim.

The other option is to try sending the files to your phone through Blueetooth.

If that doesn't work, change the extension back to .m4a

Re: How do I put ringers on my M500? Please???? :)

I'm installing BitPim now and hopefully it'll be simple to figure out, since I'm not familiar with it. Any tips?

keeping it as a .m4a doesn't work (unless I'm just not doing it right). I can get them into a folder on my phone, but can't set them as ringers. When I go to "Set Ringers" and then open the "My content", it gives me a "Please Download First" message.

Thank you so much for helping me. Hopefully I'll have luck with BitPim.

Re: How do I put ringers on my M500? Please???? :)

BitPim can't detect my phone. It isn't on the list of supported phones, and I tried connecting using every one of the listed phones individually, hoping that one of them would be similar enough to mine to fool it, but no such luck. So I guess BitPim isn't gonna do the job for me.

I'm beginning to feel discouraged. There HAS to be a way to do this, and I was hoping to get it done without having to buy a bluetooth adapter for my laptop.

Re: How do I put ringers on my M500? Please???? :)

So, Mobtime recognized and connected to my phone, but when I open the folder on my compter to send songs to the phone, the folder *looks* empty. I can only assume that the file extensions are not supported by my phone as ringers. I have tried .m4a, .3gp, .3g2, and .wav
Does anyone have any suggestions, or can anyone help me figure this out?
    Thank you!

Mobtime is the program you need to use. The folder is empty because you haven't sent any ringtones to your phone. The built-in ringtones aren't in the same place as the custom ones. Put the songs in the folder and send them them to your phone. When it finishes unplug your phone and turn it off then on again, and you should see the ringtones.

Re: How do I put ringers on my M500? Please???? :)

bear with me if I'm beng a bit slow here, but how do I send them to my phone? When I am in Mobtime, and I go to add files, the folder where those files should be is empty. It won't allow me to open them in Mobtime so that I can send them to my phone.

Maybe the M500 just doesn't give you the capability of making your own ringers.

yeah, bt you probably have to have web access on your phone, right? To download them? I don't have that access, and I wanted to find a way to send the file to my phone by usb cable and assign it as a ringer. Not an easy task!

    Phone Uploader <-Rumkin Click Here.

It says even if you don't have sprint, it could still work. Why don't you just get internet for a month and just take the cost to get a butt load of ringers and other stuff you want for free. Plus you can check your email too.
