Okay, my Samsung phone uses mmf ringtones. I converted a wav to an mmf to use on my phone, transferred the mmf via USB to the phone's "Ringtunes" folder. (I'm using the official Samsung phone explorer software). I tried to access the ringtone on the phone and nothing doing. It's completely missing. How do I get my cellphone to register new ringtones? how do I get them to work? Please help!

    Re: Samsung SGH-a706 Ringtone Problems

Why go to all this trouble when everybody knows that MP3 works damn fine?
You are converting from WAV to MMF, ( by the way, what the hell is MMF?)
Just convert the file to MP3 and don't use software or programs, just use your phone as a mass storage device and Drag & Drop the converted file.
The PC Suite it's just to have fun and that's it, it takes longer, you have to wait to load, it doesn't mean that it's going to work all the time, think about it.
Also, make sure that there isn't a sub-folder under the Ringtone folder, most probably you are checking the wrong memory, maybe it's in the phone's memory and you are checking the SD card, or vice versa.
    Good luck.

    Re: Samsung SGH-a706 Ringtone Problems

The phone has no "Mass Storage" option. I also cannot access the MicroSD because I have not "initialized" it yet. So, I'm stuck using the Samsung PC Studio 3 File Transfer system. Also, MP3 files DO NOT work on my phone.

I should also mention, my phone is on the Rogers network in Canada, if that makes any difference. I tried adding that through the forum's "Phone Info" thing, and there's no Rogers or SGH-a706 phone.

So, When I'm in PC Studio, the MMF files (Which are the only ringtones my phone will read) have a little DRM in red over the icon. the MMF I placed on the phone has no such thing. I also do have some MP3 files in the folder, and the phone will not recognize them as ringtones.

Well, I have an A767 Propel, it work fine with the PC suite, plus I can connect the phone by way of Mass Storage Device, it takes MP3 as ringtones.
I was going to asked you about the drives but that is not the problem since you said that you had transfered from the PC to the phone.
For the PC to recognize the phone memory as MST, all you have to do is hook it up, let the PC recognize it and all you have to do is Drag and Drop. Good luck.
PS. Does Rogers work in CDMA or GSM?
