Connection failed: c6712

I have c6712 start duos, I have tried to download my hotmail/ gmail inbox for the first time and its says "connection failed" and I want to see my emails, also when I try to go on the internet to look up stuff, it say "service unavailable" even though i have good signal.

I have already got the SMS from vodafone for settings and have saved/ installed the same.
Currently using only GPRS/ EDGE.
Also would like to know from where can I download apps (angry birds, etc.)for this model as this has proprietry OS.
