felytone.. i think you may be wrong..

The phone can only send/recieve pictures/songs maybe games through infrared when it's connected to a computer and using the GPRS program. I don't know any other way to do it though. I have a S200 which i think runs on the same format as the S300..

i'm still trying to figure out how to send games now.. but other then that, you phone will not send or recieve from anything else.. I tried a palm pilot with irda but that didn't work neither.. So i think computer is you best luck with file transferes

    Hopes this helps,
    Peace

Yes you can't send stuff from phone to phone. To send the games to the phone I just know it is only possible through wap/gprs. You need to upload the file to a server or webspace and with the exact link on your phone you can download the game. I haven't tried this yet cause I couldn't find the games to upload. So if anyone has succeeded please let me know!

same with my SGH-E700 samsung dont enable thier phones to send and recieve ringtones and images through infa-red.
although you can send ringtones onto the phone using computers enabled with infa-red and the correct software.

unfortunately, samsung phones are only able to receive thru infared not send (unlike nokia phones). to answer your ginufoine, infared is there for transferring ringtones and wallpaper to your phone, as you know already, thru easy gprs. it sucks that samsung did not follow nokia on this but at least the software for samsung phones is free and easily found (as ringers and wallpaper). as for nokias, you have to pay for 3rd party software and have a hard time locating stuff for them. it's a trade-off.

The images and tones in there are DRM protected - which means you can really extract them

its just a way so that tmobile and other carriers can make money by giving you a phone with a feature you cant use so you have to use one of their features to get cool stuff. poo on them
