Katana 6600-bitpim error message

I got a copy, current, of BitPim with cable. After downloading the correct drivers, my pc and Katana seem to be connecting but when I try to bring data from the phone to BitPim I keep getting the error message "phone is not responding while transitioning mode from none to phonebook"?

Any ideas what may be going on and how to fix?

i think bitpim is a really crappy program. i would actually purchase the program called datapilot. it is worth every penny!
