My 3 year old w800i has worked marvelously as a camera - until recently.

There is a black spot in every picture taken, almost in the very middle of the picture. The spot is (of course) also visible in the preview screen when taking pictures.

I've cleaned the lens very carefully, so that even with a magnifying glass I cannot see anything physical on the lens. This has not helped and the black spot persists.

I added a picture of it.

What could be done? I'm very grateful for any help!

Re: w800i - problem with the camera lens

This is very strange... It can't really be the phones firmware as there's no logical explaination for it to just place a random black dot in the middle. Personally I think it could maybe be something on the inside of the lense. As you'll know, if you look at the W800i's camera, the shutter is black - which is probably why you can't see anything. My suggestion would be to go over the external lense once more with a cotton bud just to make completely sure nothing is on there.

The only suggestion I have to the dot would be to remove the W800i back cover of the phone and get to the inside part of the lense to clean it. There are tutorials on how to open a phone all around Google and it shouldn't prove to be too much of a challenge. Then just simply wipe the lense and give it a test.

It would be worth wiping the camera itself as well - as the particle could be on the actual shutter itself.

Good luck and let me know how it goes
