How-to: Sony Xperia XA2 Plus: Back Up & Restore App Data, Media Files and Contacts

Back Up & Restore App Data:

1. Open “Settings”
2. Access “Backup & Reset”
3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, passwords, and settings to your backup account
4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be automatically restored the next time you log in with the backup account or reinstall apps

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

1. Launch “Contacts”
2. Go to “All contacts”
3. Select an account type
4. Tap the account you want to use for syncing contacts
5. Tick the “Contacts” check box then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data and contacts with the Android phone.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

1. Connect the Android device to the PC via USB
2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” on the phone, either at the prompt or from the Notification shade
3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
4. Locate the media files on the phone
5. Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
6. Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a PC:

1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification shade
3. Open the File Explorer on the PC
4. Locate the media file backups on the PC
5. Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
6. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
