"The company's decision to call in Deutsche Bank comes hot on the heels of the agreed tie-up of its struggling T-Mobile UK business with Orange to create Britain's biggest mobile phone firm.
Sources said Deutsche Telekom (DT) could submit a bid for Sprint, which has a market valuation of $10.6bn (£6.3bn), within the next few weeks. "

Deutsche Telekom wanting to buy out Sprint?
Europe's largest telecommunications company, Deutsche Telekom, is wanting to buy Sprint. Deutsche Telekom has already merged with T-Mobile UK with France Telecom's Orange UK, and now they think they may also have big plans for T-Mobile USA.
Telegraph.co.uk will be submitting an offer for Sprint within the next few weeks, due to the fact Sprint's customers are moving over to AT&T and Verizon, which has got to hurt.
Deutsche Telekom will have around 78 million customers if the merge goes through which will result in the company coming close to what AT&T has.

Re: T-Mobile to buy Sprint...
Apparently the deal fell through. I hope Tmobile will buy out or merge with sprint soon. I'm tired of the CMDA phones.

Re: T-Mobile to buy Sprint...
Sprint has a large CDMA network, even larger (much larger) than T-Mobile's USA GSM network. Even if T-Mobile was to purchase Sprint, the will remain CDMA and wouldn't be phased out to GSM.
Also, it appears they're talking about T-Mobile UK and them over there. They wouldn't be "merging" with Sprint if this was the case and it would have little or nothing to do with the USA carrier T-Mobile. T-Mobile UK would just be purchasing a large share of Sprint and basically owning part of them but they'd be saying "We'll fork over some cash for you to improve, but you'll manage yourself and give us some money back". It's the same idea with Vodafone almost owning 50% of Verizon Wireless...and Verizon is still CDMA.

Re: T-Mobile to buy Sprint...
It looked like the news article said it was going to be US T-mobile and US Sprint, and there was speculation that they were going to upgrade to the LTE 4G on CDMA side, and upgrade the GSM to LTE 4G, and it would be eaiser to merge the 2 networks, apparently. I am not very informed on that side of things, but who knows.
Yeah, I saw it was squashed, so who knows what will happen in the future......
