Do T-Mobile customers are free to go to any web site and download a jar and install it in their phones? Or are is this restricted to a limited set of approved web sites?

You could go to any website but all depends on your mobile set. I used to go to all the websites (HOTMAIL, YAHOO, GOOGLE, CNN, EBAY, BBC full virsion) with my SONY P900 and tmobile data plan, with the help of OPERA browser. Downloading pics , ringertons are no prob. but if you are thinking of VIDEO MUSIC or APPLICATIONS then i don't think it will work on that phone.
