Hi, folks... I just read on CNet that T-Mobile is about to stop offering their current deals for phones associated with a one-year contract. Apparently they're going the route of the rest of the industry, and shooting for more two-year customers.

Anyway, the moral of the story is... if you want a deal on a phone, or a free phone, go grab it before March 1. Otherwise, you'll pay a lot more, and be signed up for an extra year.

    Thought that might be helpful...

Right, but not with the current discounts on phones, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, by all means...

there is no word on that. i just know that you'll have the option of doing a 1 or 2 year contract when you sign up for service.

It'll really depend on what you feel comfortable doing. 1 year contracts will be an option. T-Mobile would love to have all there customers do a 2 year contract. I, however, still tell people that I recommend the 1 year option. I cannot put a gun to anyone's head and force them to sign a 2 year contract. If somebody wants to save an extra $50, then I offer them a 2 year contract. Personally, $50 isn't worth a whole extra year to me, and this is something I always tell customers.

There was a guy who came into my store on Tuesday upset because he claims he was "forced" to sign a 2 year contract the day before. Nobody physically or psychologically "forced" him. According to the original rep that helped him out on Monday, the guy walked in and said his old v300 didn't work anymore. He then said that he really liked the Nokia 6101, and wanted to know how he can get it at the cheapest possible price. Well, 2 year contract is the cheapest way to get a phone, but he could have certainly done a 1 year contract.

I really wouldn't panick guys. Honestly, I don't really know the details of what's going to happen on March 1, when we start rolling out 2 year contracts. I just know that I'll continue to give customers all there options. I know there are reps that are gonna try their hardest to get their $$ and push the 2 year contract. In the end, it's completely up to the customer to decide what they want.
