how to correctly use a travel battery

When I connect my wall charger to my travel battery, and my MyTouch phone to the charger, the phone sometimes drains its power and the travel battery doesn't get charged either. Is this just the nature of the battery where the travel battery has to be fully charged first before hooking up the phone (batteries equalize electricity between them if I remember correctly from electronics class) or a defect in the battery?

You should only connect one thing to the battery at a time. So, charge it first, unplug, connect the phone to charge phone.

I have used this battery before, all the time while traveling. And she was just salvation for me.

Yup, it used to be a must when traveling.
