i believe there is an 'offline' profile that turns off all of the
'phone' features of the phone. there is on my 6630, so i presume the
same for the n70

There is a profile called 'Offline' that turns off the radio signal on the
phone.

Lots of sirlines still insist on the phone being turned off though. Best to
ask and show them how it works.

I think with hundreds of passengers, they're more likely just to say no (I
would). As a passenger I would be pretty irritated to know that there was a
ban on phones, yet there was some guy clearly using his. You may not be
using it as a phone, but thats not the impression it would give. I really do
think that the airline won't want the hassle involved - directly or
indirectly.
Just take the opportunity to enjoy the in-flight movie, read a book,
perhaps talk to another passenger or even sleep.

Which is no guarantee whatsoever that the flight crew will let you use it.

At least one of the airlines I've flown with in the past year has
instructed you to "switch of all mobile phones including those with an
in flight mode" in their safety briefing.
With instructions like that it's kinda pointless trying to reason with
the stewardess :-(

No even if you put it on offline mode. You have to switch the mobile off.

Yes, here are the instructions
- use your N70 discretely
They are hardly going to say... i hope those headphones aren't
connected to a mobile phone.. empty your pockets now..
Besides, if the planes crashes, at least you can phone for help

Remind me never to get on a plane with you.
The no phone rule is there for a reason.

Yes, mostly paranoia.

I'd be more worried about getting cancer from the use of a phone
personally and I'm not particularly worried about that.

Well I fly regularly to Prague and I always hear SMS tones when we get close
to landing. The number of people that don't switch off their phones is
amazing. I always switch off my 6680, because that's the rules. Anyway I use
my iPod Nano for listening to music/podcasts, so I don't have a need for it.

If you say so. I'd presonally believe what the pilots I know tell me.

Well said
It's also just common sense.
Otherwise wouldn't terrorists & suicide bombers just get on planes &
leave their phones on...
Jeez, stop believing everything people shove down your throat... (.e.g
there's a 'god' in the sky who will grant you wishes)
