I got a text this morning that claims to be from Orange (on 0973 100
    620) and asks me to call them on "244".

Being three digits and very similar to "241" (the number to get "two
for one" cinema tickets) "244" looks like it should be an Orange
number. However, OCS on "150" couldn't confirm whether it was or not!

Any chance this could be a premium rate scam? Or is it guaranteed to
    be an Orange number?

    Thanks,

    SB

244 is an Orange number they often text you to call to ask you about
how your recent interaction with Cust Serv was. It is a free call.

If it's 3 digits then I think it has to terminate on the same network it
originates from (apart from 999/112)? That might be bollocks though.

244 is a valid number for Orange, usually get it after you've phoned
customer services, they will want to know if you were
satisfied/delighted etc with how you were treated.

Re: "244" - Orange or scam?

    Thanks for the replies.

As a couple of people have said, it does appear to be an Orange number.

When I rang Orange on 150, they couldn't tell whether or not it was.
When I e-mailed them, they told me not to call it back as it was
probably a dealer cold calling me! Only when I e-mailed them a second
time did they finally confirm that it was an Orange number. So the
principle of having to ask Orange each question three times to get the
right answer still seems to apply...

I'll call them back on Monday, and let them know how "satisfied" I
    was. Can you guess?

    Cheers,
