Does anyone know of a scam going round where someone in India calls you
and tells you they are from "Advanced Mobile" an "Authorised Orange
dealer"??
They keep calling me wanting my postcode! What's it all about?! They
go on about giving me 10% off, but when i ask them more questions they
don't seem to know any English! They are just drones.
When I asked for the manager they said his name was "Dave Smith" and
when I asked to be transferred they cut me off!!

Tell them "hang on, i`ll just get him (i.e. the owner of the phone)"
If you`re feeling generous, speak to them every 5 minutes saying "he`s
just on his way in now, he`s in the garden"

There was something on BBC Watchdog where they are after your address to
send you unsolicited invoices. Sounds similar, a postcode is a pretty good
start.

With your Orange phone number and your postcode, any dealer can access a
small amount of information on you, including your name, last upgrade date,
any upgrade fees and they can also process an upgrade for you.

They are offering the 10% Orange loyalty discount, which involves either
signing a 12 month contract without a handset, or an 18 month contract with
a handset upgrade. More details are on the Orange site.
They are just drones.

I wouldn't touch any dealers cold calling my number with a bargepole, let
alone give them my postcode.

Once you divulge your postcode they can use Orange's Enable system to
process an upgrade for you.
