Please excuse a very basic question. Can anyone please tell me what
they are, do they cost me anything to receive and how do I stop them?
Thanks

WAP Push as its known by is essentially an extension to SMS that enables the
recipient of the WAP Push message to immediately view an online page of
content in one click. WAP Push messages are binary SMS messages that contain
a URL. The benefit of using WAP Push versus SMS is that for a similar cost
of delivery you can reach your customers with rich multimedia WAP content
such as pictures, game downloads and polyphonic ringtones. If however, you
would like your customers to have a copy of the content stored on their
handset please consider using MMS.
Example ways to use active content include downloading a picture, making a
purchase, or responding to a marketing offer

Thanks for that. I take it that it does not cost me anything to receive
ie the same as a text. Is there a way of stopping them without opening
the link they have sent?

Yes, disable them on your phone - have a look in your manual, which may or
may not be posted online on the Sanyo website.
No, they don't cost you a penny. However, opening one may actually open the
link straight away on your phone, depending on how the phone is set
(unchangable on most phones I'm sure) - but yours may not do this. It is
possible to get charged, as the WAP push message can contain a dial-up
number which will be used to initiate the connection.
Either way, there's very little use for them *except* possibly if they are
used to send settings to a phone, but it's normally just done with a
molested SMS message.
