    No, not another whinge...

I charged my N80 on Sunday night. As at 9.10 today (Friday) it still has two
bars left. Is this a record?

(OK, so I have been turning it off overnight)

Sounds good to me, Im assuming you have bluetooth, automatic gprs
connection and wifi turned off? And im guessing you have not made to
    many calls on it?
Im getting around 48 hours out of mine, thats with about 10mins of
calls a day, and an automatic check for emails every six hours on gprs.

Pah..! Call that a good battery life..? The good old Nokia 6310i has been
known to run for up to a fortnight on a single charge.

I use my 6310i for at least an hours calls a day, and it'll go like that for
    several days without recharging

The 6310i? No colour screen, no camera, no mp3 player, no web browsing.
No wonder the battery lasts so long, While the n80's battery is very
poor how can you compare it to the 6310i's battery life?

It's a phone. It's for phoning people. If you want a camera, mp3 player
and all that crap on it as well, then what do you expect when the battery
    runs flat after 10 minutes..?!

The 6310i is a real phone, and probably the best phone (for business at
    least) that Nokia ever made.
I dont need a colour screen - I can see what numbers I've dialed in mono
If I need to take pictures I do so with a real camera - not with a toy with
    a 4 or 5mm sensor.
I've never felt the need to carry countless mp3 albums around with me.
Most MSPs charge around £2 / MB for browsing. I'll use me PC for free

Couldn't have put it better myself..! The problem with the subsidy-driven
market we have in the UK is that the networks have to keep selling,
whereas I am perfectly happy with what I've got and see no need to
constantly "upgrade" as they put it. I've also had my current car for 5
years and my motorcycle for 6. I did buy a new DVD/HDD video recorder last
year though and a new laptop this year, so I'm not totally immune to new
    technology..!

Bluetooth off, 2-3 mins calls and 4-5 texts a day, wifi search on but set to
scan only every 10 mins, about 20 mins wifi browsing per day. No GPRS, I
used up my 1MB checking my email once...

It lasted till 5.10 on Friday and then shut itself off, for a grand total of
    73 hours.
