Hi,
I want to port my voda contract number to 02,
Thing is, I cant do it yet but my voda contract is up.
So, question, can i convert my voda contract to payg and then port out
at a later date?
Can you port payg numbers to contracts is the question I guess.
thanks.

You could port to Virgin PAYG and then port into O2 contract.

You can port (contract or PAYG) into existing Orange or T-Mobile
contracts.
However, AFAIK you can only port (contract or PAYG) into Voda or o2
contracts at the same time as you take out a new contract with them.

I think that is still the case with Voda, but certainly O2 allow you to port
up to 1 month after you take out the contract. I did this in Jan this year
from an Orange contract.
Also you can convert a Voda contract to Voda PAYG, but they may want to send
you a new SIM card.
My method in Jan was thus
Orange contract expired on 4th Jan so got Orange to convert to PAYG on 5th
Jan then a few days later applied for my PAC and PACed into O2, which I took
out on 4th of Jan with temp number

So, if I wanted to change my phone before end of contract, can I port my
number on current contract away from voda and then convert my existing voda
to PAYG, thereby effectively losing my vodafone contract and gaining a new
contract elsewhere?

Hi rmg,
I work for Vodafone and can offer you some informal advice.
It's possible to port your contract number over to Pay As You Talk
(PAYT) with Vodafone. This is a 30 day process. I've enclosed the
information below if you need the exact details (the request needs to
be made by letter or fax).
You'd need to send 30 days written notice, requesting to transfer to
PAYT and you should include the following information:
1- Your billing address in full.
2- Your date of birth.
3- Your landline contact number.
4- Your payment method.
5- Your account and mobile number.
6- Your signature.
Please send your request either by fax to 08701616500 or by post to the
following address:
Vodafone Ltd
PO Box 549
Banbury,
OX17 3ZJ.
One thing you should be aware of is, if you're still in contract,
when your number transfers on to PAYT, you'd be charged for line
rental from the date of the transfer up until the end of your
agreement. This is known as your early termination charge.
I hope this information is useful to you.
