    Hi,

Got a Nokia 6230, that used to be on an O2 contract, now is Orange PAYG.

I can't send or receive MMS messages now it's on Orange PAYG. If someone
sends me a MMS, I get a link on the Orange website to view the image. If I
try to send an MMS, it fails.

Took it into an Orange shop, they had a quick look then gave up, said it's
because O2 have "done something to it" and said there was nothing I can do.
This was after saying it's because it's an old phone, I then pointed out it
    worked fine when with O2.

    Any solutions?

    Cheers.

The expertise at Orange shops is breathtaking

You did get Orange CS to send an Over The Air MMS Sim update, and saved it?

If your MMS settings are OK, it could be the phones CSP is disabled
as CSP isn't needed on O2

Fbus by maestro and a fbus data lead might restore it.

Or take it to a Club Nokia centre to do it
(which is what the Orange shop should have recommended, if sim update had
    failed)

No, I can call them to get them to do this?

CSP? I did try googling it...

Yes do it, assuming you can get their India CS to understand what you want

Custom Sim Protocol, the old GSM networks like O2 and Voda didn't use it,
and often had their handsets CSP disabled, which would cause problems using
the handset on a PCN (now called GSM 1800) network like Orange
    or T Mobile which does

Orange could be using it for MMS control

any Club Nokia centre of level 3 or higher can reset it

First have the Over The Air Sim updates sent. don't tell them it's
not an Orange phone, or Orange CS might disown all help.

Just say you've messed up the MMS settings on your Orange Nokia 6230
and re-send the settings Over The Air.

Disappointing, but to be fair, not the case in all.

    You need two things for MMS to work;

    1) correct settings in the handset
    2) MMS enabled on the account

As you're receiving the link to the Orange website, this shows there is
no MMS enabled on your account. You need to ring Orange (450) and ask
them to enable this. You'll get a SIM update, delete it, and restart
    the phone.

If the handset was previously O2, you might find the settings are also
wrong. http://setup.orange.co.uk will sort you out. You might want to
send the GPRS settings too while you're there if you want to use the
    web on the phone.

    Hope this helps,
    Chris

You have not informed Orange that you now have a device capable of MMS -
    you must do this first.

Then go to www.setup.orange.co.uk and send yourself the settings.

It would work fine with O2 as it's correctly configured for O2.

My point was that it counters their opinion it's not working because it's an
    old phone.

    Cheers.
