Back Up App Data:

  1. First, make sure you are signed in with the Google account you want to use for the backup
  2. Open the apps drawer
  3. Go to “Settings
  4. Tap “Backup & reset
  5. If necessary, tap “Backup account” and select the desired Google account
  6. Tap to enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings
  7. Tap the switch to enable “Automatic Restore” if you wish app data to be restored automatically when reinstalling the said app(s)

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Contacts
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Accounts
    • You can back up contacts listed under email addresses by performing the following: Select the desired account, make sure “Contacts” is checked, tap “Menu” > “Sync now
    • Contacts found under “Local contacts” can be backed up to the SD card or the SIM

Back Up Contacts to SD Card:

  1. Open “Contacts
  2. Tap “Menu
  3. Tap “Import / Export
  4. Tap “Export to storage” > “OK” to confirm

NOTE: Make sure you remember the backup file’s name for future use.

Restore Contacts from SD Card:

  1. Launch “Contacts
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export
  3. Tap “Import from storage
    • If only one backup file exists on the phone storage, the phone will import the contacts automatically
    • Assuming multiple backup files exist on the phone, you will be prompted to select the one you wish to restore

Back Up Media Files On a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the BlackBerry Priv to your computer via USB
  2. On the phone’s home screen, drag the “Status” bar down
  3. Make sure “Media device (MTP)” is selected
  4. On the computer, open the File Explorer
  5. Navigate to the phone storage (either “Internal Storage” or “SD card”) and locate the desired media files
  6. Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the PC storage
  7. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Use the USB cable to connect the Priv to your PC
  2. From the phone’s notification area, make sure “Media device (MTP)” is enabled
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC, and copy them
  5. Paste the files in the desired location on the phone, either on the “Internal storage” or “SD card” (Preferably in the “Media” folder or the one they originate from)
  6. After the restore is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
