Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu
  4. Enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: you can disable the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Return to “Settings” and go to “Location
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. Return to “Settings” and access “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot
  7. Turn the feature Off

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease brightness
  3. Next open “Settings” and go to “Display
  4. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options tap “Sleep
  6. Select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Under “Wireless & Networks” tap “More
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: you can change your account’s settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when they are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps
  3. Access “All apps
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop
  6. To remove the app from the phone tap “Uninstall

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates
  4. Verify if new updates are available
  5. If applicable follow the on-screen prompts to install the update. Keep in mind that you will need to reboot your phone at least once in order to complete the update process
