This tutorial will teach you how to make instrumental ringtones and/or take out extra instruments you dont want in your ringtone.

First download Anvil Studio for FREE
    Hidden Content

Now open the song by going to File, Open Song and selecting the MIDI.

If you only see 1 track, go to Track, Split Track Into Single-Channel Tracks. This should now split the midi up and show you all the instruments in the song

To select a track go to the very fary left. There should be a tiny green square. This denotes which channel/track is currently selected. If you know which track is the vocal instrument, then simply select it and go to Track, Delete.

If you do not know which track is the vocal instrument, then you have to go through all the tracks and listen to them individually (eventually you'll be able to recognize which one it is immediately by just looking at the notation on the right side). To do this, select a track, then go straight across to the right to the "ON" column (5th column from the right). Click it twice, and it should say "SOLO" in blue. Now press the play button and listen. If this is the instrument you want deleted, then go to Track, Delete. If it is not the right instrument, click "SOLO" and it will go back to "ON." Repeat the steps to listen to each track until you find the one(s) you want taken out of the MIDI.

Once you are done, make sure there are no "SOLO"s and listen to the song. If its what you want, then go to either

Save Song As (save as Type 1 MIDI)
    or
Export MIDI Format 0 (save as Type 0 MIDI, the format which most phones need a MIDI to be in to work)

Make sure you save it as a different name just in case you mess up, you still have the original file.

There is a glitch in the newer versions of anvil studio that changes the midi instruments to all piano when you save it. If you are experiencing these problems, uninstall your current version and Hidden Content
    (the program is in English)

Here is another way to make an instrumental. If you don't already have PSMPlayer, download it(somewhere in this site). Then open up psmplayer and then go to file, open, and choose the song you want to edit. Then, uncheck boxes until you hear the vocal track go away. Then, check all the ones you unchecked(except the vocal track of course), and save the file. I'm not sure what type MIDI it saves as, but if it doesn't work, follow Vin's instructions on changing it to type-0.

I made midi's in Finale 2004, and use MidiNotate to print them out as sheetmusic.. (I use ringtones sometimes to learn to play a popsong)

the vibration settings for psm player 5.0 is when you edit a midi and convert it to mmf (a samsung format), you can then add vibration to a certain track on the midi so the phone will vibrate to that track's beat, you can also add LED synchronization for MMF's too, and the LED will flash with the beat of the track you selected, when i had a samsung i did it all the time and all my ringers vibrated and lit up in sync with the music, which was pretty tight. As far as i know from playing around with psmplayer ever since it came out, MIDI files cant have Vibration or LED Synchronization added onto them

Sorry to bring this up, but what program do you guys use to create Midis from Mp3s or Wavs? I've tried several trial versions of programs but they either won't allow me to save the files or won't allow me to save more than 1 second files.
