- 10-18-2004, 09:15 PM #18i play by ear i could get a melody down in the keyboard in like 5 seconds...
i really think if ANYONE want's to start playing music, go buy a $99 casio keyboard (or yamaha) and you will eventually get it. go buy a $3 poster at any local music store that has the keyboard chords. (you won't really use them all that much but it's great for learning, there's one for guitar's too) then you can translate that to guitar, bass and all sorts of other instruments. i picked up a freakin' BANJO and started playing it at the guitar shop one time. it was pretty strange...yes sireee.. deliverance was what i played.

i'm sure theres more advanced music classes offered in high school. ask around with your counselors, take one as an elective. pick up what u can
for sure they'll have em at universities. my friend took the most basic one at the community college- "Music Appreciation." its probaly called "Intro to music" or something similar everywhere else. her final was to compose an original composition, so i'm sure they'll teach u something besides just terminology. and no, the "original composition" final didnt have to be like a full-length beethoven symphony. i was gonna take it this fall but i switched schools so i dropped it before the semester started. theres also a class that specifically trains your ears so that u pick up notes like nothin
of course after all that u need to learn to transfer that knowledge to the keyboard and the compLast edited by vinsanity; 10-18-2004 at 11:51 PM.
