I am in the Toronto area, so coverage should not be a problem with both.

The only reason for me to switch to Rogers is because of GSM and the convenience/powerfulness of the SIM card.

But when it comes to customer service, I have heard that with Rogers it may
be a concern. At present I feel very happy with Telus.

I look forward to receiving comments from anyone of you. Thank you.

I've found Rogers to be quite helpful whenever I've had a problem, which hasn't been that frequent.

From what I see and read, Rogers has slightly better coverage in the GTA than Telus and Bell do, but in western Canada, the CDMA providers generally have slightly better coverage.

GSM phones are pretty cool though.

Re: Rogers' customer service/support comparing to Telus ... who's better??

Rogers has great customer service and tech support. I had a txt msg issue between Rogers and Telus. My friend that had the Telus phone called tech and they said that it was a Rogers issue and would assist him. He had to escalate to get them to look into it. When I called Rogers, they said the similar that it could be Telus but that they would open a ticket just to make sure that it wasn't on their end. I got a call back a few hours later from the Rogers tech after they informed me to try sending msgs. They stated that the msg were leaving their service during the trace.

In the end it turned out to be a Telus issue.

    Both are bad.

If i had to choose, Rogers.

If you can, I personally would switch to Fido.
They have better people. (in my opinion)

Re: Rogers' customer service/support comparing to Telus ... who's better??

In my opinion, it comes down to who you get on the other end of the phone. I have been with Telus and Rogers for over 10 years and sometimes you get good assistance and sometimes they haven't got a clue what they're talking about as they go into some tangential run-around.

But, I have found that folks working at the Telus stores seem more to be more knowledgeable, helpful and friendly than the ones working at the Rogers outlets. But again, it comes down to which outlet you are are. I have one of both outlets in Limeridge Mall in Hamilton and the Rogers distributor is awful (busy, long waits, only looking for the sell) but another that I bought my iPhone at in North York was amazing - there weren't even any other customers in the store) and I had 2 staff filling me in on all the goods and answering all my questions.

If I'm not happy with the answers I get from the person on the other end, I always ask for the Loyalty Dept. They are usually the ones that will get you what you need (especially if you threaten to cancel your contract and go with another carrier).

as a whole fido is best. I dont work for fido, i actually run my own business and i call up the 4 giants all the time. (think of it as ive called all the companies 500times personally) and fido comes out on top

It all depends on the customer's voice and demands also. Anyone can get pissed off if a customer has stupid demands.

I can speak from experience that all operators can be wildly different in their knowledge and what they will do for you. If one won't agree to something you consider reasonable, call back and get another.

I have been treated extremely poorly by Telus customer service staff...so badly I had to go hunting for another provider. And the topper was finding out that all my conversations with their customer service department about what new contract we could negotiate once our present one was up did not trigger an automatic end to that contract. When I called to let them know we had gone with another provider, and let them try to come up with a competitive offer, they could not....I then said, well, our contract is over today, so we will not renew it...and Telus said they would be billing me for another month.

Their policy is that you must say "I do not want to renew my contract when it expires", and from the day you say that, you will be paying for another 30 days.

So watch your timing as your contract comes to an end.

I live in Toronto and I lose completely signal on some odd areas, like in a well known road I would be driving and my connection will be completely gone for 1-2 blocks then it would come back up, it is really wierd and frustrating specially taking in count it is a main street. But that's rogers for you...

Well, that is a function of picking up a signal on any device. You may have been in a shadow of a big building, or over a magnetic deposit when you lost signal. That is going to happen with any carrier, although less and less as more relay towers go in.
