Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
I had a Sony Ericsson, and I only had it for just over a year, then the connection with the charger started to malfunction. So, I bought a Samsung j706 outright so that I could continue in my rogers contract. I am trying to get ringtones on my j706, but I am unable. I used the drm packager just fine with my Sony, but it won't work for the Samsung j706, and I have tried it both forward locked and combined delivery methods? Any insights?

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
Dalton you are a f**king miracle worker!!! I've been tearing my hair out for months trying to find out how to do this and there you were all along. EXACTLY the forum post title for EXACTLY what I needed. Dude, you SO rock! Thanks a million. It worked perfectly after I realised that you wanted me to actually put the file UNDER the folders and not into them. My folders were in large icon view so I didn't put it together right away but as soon as I did, BOOM, there came the much-anticipated pop-up and my headache disappeared. Again, thanks and I will pass on what I have learned.

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
OK
KhmerLeur, cellfoneissues, sandersonm and anyone else out there who is having the same problem this is what you do. I had the same problem until I figured out that when Dalton said "Put it under the memory stick and phone folder" he meant it literally. You have to put it UNDER those folders not IN those folders. In other words in the same folder as those ones are in. After you do this you should see both folders in the file manager window as well as the .dm file. Then the pop up will come up and the file will work as whatever you want it to.
Good luck fellas,
Rick

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
Samsung SGH-T336, doesnt work, the pc suite wont let me put the .dm file anywhere except in other files, and then my phone dont even show me an option to asign it to a ringtone.
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
It didn't work for the LG Shine on Rogers.. the phone doesn't know what to do with .dm files. I also tried forward-lock.. no go.. the closes I got was with separate delivery but when I tried to 'play' the files on the phone I got an error message that it was no longer active and asked if I wanted to activate. If I said yes it took me to a 'page cannot be displayed' I'm afraid my only way around this will be to unbrand the phone..
Was anyone been successful on LGs?

Re: A "How To" use MP3's on Rogers phones
I tried what you explain with my LG Vu TU915 but i do it with LG PC Suite instead of Sony Ericson PC Suite and my cell phone detect the tunes/ringtones but it's said my tunes is inactive. It's ask me to reactive it and rogers cannot find an valid adress. Don't know what to do now. Please do something, it make me angry to cannot put mp3 as ringtones, don't want to pay for them. Thank you.

I tried downloading the DRM file and all I got was a secured blank page. What did I do wrong?

Re: use MP3's on Rogers phones
I just got the new samsung rugby A836, I followed the steps you gave and unfortunatly it didn't work so I guess its not for my phone although I'm sure there's gotta be another way...I tried compressing, converting and now DRM and nothing works...nothing nothing...!!!!

Re: use MP3's on Rogers phones
I'm having the same problem. I couldn't get it to work with my Samsung SGH-A436, and nothing seems to work on my new LG Neon either. It won't let you set anything as a ringtone. I've tried midi, mp3, mp4, m4a, wma, wav, etc. and it just keeps giving me an error saying "Only DRM File is Available."
However, I believe Rogers must use some standard form of DRM protection, because you can also get ringtones through MTV, and a couple of other services. On the Rogers Mall, there's a link to "Get More Ringtones" and links to I think 3 other sites that you can buy tones from and use, so maybe we just need to figure out the exact settings to use with that DRM packer program to get them to work. I do know the files have to have an mp3 extension. My LG phone doesn't recognize dm files.

Re: use MP3's on Rogers phones
I am very sorry to say it but this didn't work for me. I am with LG Shine TU720 from Rogers. The thing that works is a program called bitpim. There is a video in youtube with explanation. I hope this is not considered spam .
