So the "Revolution" started on Tuesday... Anyone else think the plans they're offering are just terrible? It seems likely to me that whoever put those plans together probably has either never owned a smartphone, or hasn't had to put together a cell phone plan for themselves in a long long time,
$45
- 150 Minutes
- 500MB
- Evenings and Weekends starting at 9
with one of the following
a) +100 minutes
b) +1000 Text Messages
c) +My5 Calling
Why would they even offer a smartphone plan without text messages? How is anyone willing to buy a $600 Smartphone (Ok, $150 with this 3 year plan) expected to get by with 150 minutes? The My5 isn't terrible except that the afaik the 5 have to also be rogers customers!
Urgh, I'm looking at an $80+/month cell bill just for what I see as some basic features (Call display, 200 minutes, evenings/weekends starting at 5-6, text messages, data)
Anyone know any good plans or combination's for this phone? I was thinking of trying to call the Retention Hotline listed in this forum but wanted to hear if anyone had tried it yet, I'm coming up on the end of a 3 year contract, and want to sign another contract, but the current incentive is a $50 upgrade credit, and I'd still have to pay a $35 activation fee! How frustrating

Re: Rogers HTC Dream in Canada
Just thought I'd post, that I called the retention number listed above and got a plan that was acceptable to me,
$20
275 Minutes
6pm Evenings (Unlimited talk time)
Rogers to Rogers calling
$20
2500 Texts/MMS/unlimited received
voice mail
call display
$30
6GB Data Plan
They waived the activation fee, added my $50 upgrade credit, and I still got my G1 for the promotional price of $199, (So $149 after upgrade credit)
So in total, they basically knocked $10 off my current plan while also giving me more minutes and texts, then gave me the $30/6GB Data plan, (Which isn't listed on their website that I could find, or any of the promotional materials for the phones, at least not in either the rogers Video, or rogers Wireless that I went to, though many blogs and news releases mention it).
So I'm going to be paying around $80/month after system access fee, taxes etc. after all, But I am more than happy with the plan, Also I believe I am the first person in my city to have the HTC Dream, and I *love* it
