what is the best way to bargain with rogers?

a little info: girlfriend, also a long time rogers customer, wants to upgrade her phone. said phone is 300+$.

with a 3 year plan, it'll cost her 70$. she still has one year left on her current plan, and she would only add the 3 more years to that if she could get a cheaper bill.

so what is the best way to go about bargaining with rogers?

    thanks for your help

best way is to dial *611 with her phone (Rogers Customer Service) and say cancel my phone. You should be directed to the Retentions Department and threaten to cancel unless they offer her a better plan.

    Re: Bargaining with rogers

Really, I have an iphone but I am moving to an acreage where Rogers reception is nil. The tech person at Rogers said that I need a cell phone booster because the address is 9 km from a tower rather than 7the necessary 7 km (despite the fact that their "coverage map" shows it is covered. Anyway, it costs about $280 or so. So I call retention and tell them I would like some help via a credit to purchase this - otherwise I will cancel my contract and pay no penatly - based on the fact that I can't get service despite their advertised map. He said he could not do this and that I would have to cancel my contract. He also said that the only thing they could do would be to build a new tower? I advised that this was not the case, that they could help with the credit and keep a customer with revenue of thousands of dollars over the next 2 years?! Anyway, I told him that in 2 months when I move I will call and cancel - but not before porting over my number to Telus. WT hell? This makes no sense. But at the end of the day that is the call retention made. It is truly unbelieveable in my mind. Oh, my monthly bill this month? Over $500. Whatever.

You're best bet would be to call rogers and ask for customer relations. Once you get in touch with someone who works in this department you have to argue that you are not satisfied with you the service they are providing. The trick is to call a few times because some employees are nicer then others. If you have the time, just keep on working hard for it and you will win ! good luck

Rogers will usually let you upgrade your phone for the 3 year contract price as long as you are willing to renew your contract for another 3 years. Being a longtime rogers customer, you should have more than enough bargaining power with Rogers so that this shouldn't be a problem.

What you said is true but it's quite misleading.

To clarify for others, if you're on a 2 year contract and you upgrade your phone, you don't extend 3 years. Your contract becomes 3 years upon signing the agreement

It would've been said in your contract about cancellation fees.
