Although you can't make calls on the Galaxy Tab you can still use Google Voice to listen to messages and send text messages from your Google number. Here's how to do it:

  • On the Samsung Tab - go to Settings - About device - Device number - write down the tab's phone number.
  • In Google voice (http://google.com/voice/) login and go to the Settings menu - select the phones tab
  • Click "Add Another Phone"
  • Enter the phone number written down previously
  • Google Voice will ask you to verify the phone, x out of this
  • On the Samsung Tab go the the Market and download Google Voice
  • Go through the setup menu and hook up things to your already setup Google account
  • You shouldn't have to verify the Tab

Now you'll be able to see your existing voicemail and send text messages via your Google number.

By the way, I noticed that the phone app is actually on the Samsung Tab, and if you click menu - Call when on a voicemail it pops up for amin, but immediately closes.
